Iboga (Tabernathe iboga) is a rainforest shrub native to central western Africa. For centuries, the Bwiti people of Gabon have utilized Iboga as part of ceremonial rites of passage, healing and for spiritual growth.
Psychoactive indole alkaloids comprise approximately 6% of the shrub’s roots. Research has focused largely on the pharmacology of ibogaine (which comprises the majority of these alkaloids), which was first isolated in its crystalized salt form in 1901.
lboga’s mechanism of action results from a complex interaction with multiple neurotransmitters rather than a single neurotransmitter. lbogaine has been shown to interact with the acetylcholine, dopamine, and serotonin systems. Furthermore, it metabolizes into noribogaine, a serotonin re-uptake inhibitor that remains in the body for 1-4 months, associated with prolonged effects, including elimination of addictive cravings.
Dr. Dallas has created this requisition for a 12 lead electrocardiogram. Send us a message to request for requisite.
Iboga is characterized as an oneirogen - a substance that promotes “waking dream” states, primarily through closed-eye visualizations, the retrieval of repressed memories, and profound self-reflection.
Thus, Iboga is useful for psycho-spiritual growth in addition to treatment of addictions and mental health conditions.
Cardiac effects of ibogaine are characterized by sinus bradycardia and QT prolongation, which are the result of complex interactions with various cardiac ion channels.
Thus, Iboga treatment providers require each patient have an ECG prior to treatment to screen for patients who may have medication-induced or genetic long-QT syndrome.
An EKG, full medical disclosure, full prescription disclosure. Specific health conditions that may disqualify participation include:
